The accused is believed to be from Kolomotu'a, Tongatapu and Deputy Police Commander Taniela Faletau says the arrest was a result of an ongoing investigation into the incident, after it was reported to police.

Commander Faletau says police cannot make any further comments regarding the alleged victim but he says she is continuing on with her daily life.

In other police news, a 41 year old man from Vava'u has been charged with manslaughter, for allegedly driving negligently, causing the death of a 15 year old boy in Neiafu.

The accident which allegedly occurred along Tu'i road claimed the life of the boy and injured six others.

The accused is to appear in the Magistrate's Court in Vava'u on the 23rd of December.
