The Public Service Association or PSA has revealed that young people entering the civil service are not aware of the work policies.
According to the Director General of PSA, Mele 'Amanaki, this was identified in a workshop for young Public Service staff.
This training was to make Civil Servants aware that if they do not agree with anything or any work policies they have the right to dispute it. This includes their salary rates, their annual leave, and their benefits amongst others.
This workshop was conducted by the PSA, Public Service International and also the Tonga Nurses Association. The workshop is in two parts with training of trainers to conduct similar training for the future and also training for young Civil Service staff.
Present at the workshop were Public Service staffs from Ministries and also staff from the Tonga Nurses Association.
