Waste Management settle arrears with Jenkin Renova
02-09-09 05:16

The Jenkin Renovation has received full payment of up to fifty thousand pa'anga from the Waste Management authority today, after receiving a writ of distress from court.

This is over the supervision of Tapuhia landfill and collective service that the Company was contracted by the Tonga Solid Waste Management in 2005 up to March this year.

Reports from Director and Manager of Jenkin Renovation, Neil Jenkin says they were successful bidders, contracted by the Waste Management and the Waste Authority for running of the operation and collective service in 2007 for 3 years.

Jenkin adds the first year went without a hitch however both parties had fallouts in March this year over non payment for their services.

He points out that they ceased operation at the end of March for breach of contract.

Jenkin Renovations took the Waste Authority to Court and won a Court case on August 4th, this year.

The Waste Authority was given 3 months to pay their arrears and wavered all interest charges and cost and payment by November, 4th.

However Jenkin reports that wasn't the case. The Waste Authority asked for another one month extension of payment but Jenkins gave them a chance to pay up by one thirty pm today.

Jenkin says, it's a shame that they had to do this to get some action, however the payment still sits at the Ministry of Justice for further action.
